Communications Assistant

We are looking for a Communications Assistant to join our team. The person will be hired under STEA’s Paikka auki funding which is intended for young job seekers under the age of 30 who are in a challenging labour market position, or job seekers who are partially able to work. This is a fixed-term employment lasting approximately one year.

House of Helsinki is a volunteer development organisation, home to the Refufin project. The project operated in 2022 entirely on a volunteer basis, helping Ukrainians to arrive in Finland from Poland. With over 80 volunteers, Refufin helped more than 3000 people arrive safely in Finland, provided over 100 translations for partners, and advised and supported over 6000 war refugees through chat. In 2023 the project received STEA funding and now two full-time employees and an incredible group of volunteers support Ukrainian refugees who have already arrived in Finland.

The assistant’s work will include social media coordination, website management and event support. The person will work closely with the Coordinator and Project Manager of the project to ensure our communication reaches potential and existing volunteers and our online and in-person events are a success.

The role also may also involve direct contact with refugees who seek support from Refufin, so we expect the person to gain the needed knowledge and act with empathy.
