Last year, our volunteers at House of Helsinki took part in the tree planting event organized by Moniheli ry and Martat, and this year we were thrilled to partner with them as well. Our first tree planting day was a great success, and we were honored to have Nasima Razmyar, the Deputy Mayor of Helsinki as our special guest.
Our community events provide an opportunity for our volunteers from different backgrounds and people who have fled Ukraine to come together and connect with others. By participating in events like this, we hope to foster a sense of community and belonging for all participants.
A tree planting day gives participants the opportunity to get to know other people and feel a sense of community. Furthermore, the act of planting a tree in Finland can hold a special significance for those who have fled from the hardships of war. It can symbolize the hope for a new beginning and a brighter future.
Through this event, we hope to offer a sense of belonging and connection to our community for all participants, especially for those who may feel disconnected from their community or unable to reach their "roots".
We had a fantastic time planting trees and enjoying the beautiful spring weather. And the good news is, it's not too late to take part! More tree planting events are coming up this week in different cities of Finland. Join us in showing our commitment to the environment and community building. We hope to see you there!
